May 12 is the day to celebrate mom. Here’s a couple of fun facts to share with her on her big day.
-American Anna Reeves Jarvis is credited with establishing Mother’s Day as a national holiday, doing so in 1908. President Woodrow Wilson officially signed it into law in 1914. She was actually following in the footsteps of her own mom, Ann Jarvis, who made an effort to help bridge the gap during the American Civil War by fostering friendships between mothers on both sides.
-It’s a good time to be a florist, as Mother’s Day is typically the third busiest time of the year for flowers-behind only Valentine’s Day and Christmas/Hanukkah.
-If you’re planning to call mom on Sunday, you’re not the only one. More calls are made on Mother’s Day than any other date on the calendar-about 122 million made every year on that day.
