The Ontario government is providing the Deseronto Public Library in Hastings – Lennox and Addington with $199,800 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream.
“Our government believes organizations like the Deseronto Public Library enrich the lives of people in Hastings – Lennox and Addington and play an important role in building a strong and prosperous economy in Ontario. That’s why I am proud that they are receiving capital funding support through the Ontario government’s Trillium Foundation,” said Ric Bresee, MPP for Hastings – Lennox and Addington. “Organizations such as the Deseronto Public Library are pillars of our community. This support will enable them to better serve the residents and continue to make a positive difference.”
Bresee stopped by the library to meet with members of Deseronto council and library CEO and chief librarian Julie Lane.
“We are ecstatic to be one of the recipients of the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Stream grants,” said Lane. “Accessibility of our space is crucial to ensuring the Deseronto Public Library is, and remains, a welcoming and adaptable space within our community; this funding is ensuring our public washrooms meet the needs of our current and future community as well as maintaining the library environment of the building with upgrades to our HVAC heating and cooling systems. The library is the community hub of Deseronto. We see library members of all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, abilities, and interests; the library is where all of these groups intersect and thrive. This opportunity further drives us towards fulfilling our mission of being the doorway to life long learning for every citizen in our community.”
“We must extend a huge thank you to MPP Ric Bresee’s office for their encouragement and letter of support. We also want to extend our thanks to the Deseronto Town Hall staff for their assistance in submitting the application,” added Lane.
OTF’s Capital grant stream helps organizations improve their infrastructure so they can continue delivering programs and services that Ontarians need to thrive. Whether it’s
purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are making a difference in Hastings – Lennox and Addington.
These Capital grants are part of the more than $28 million supporting 291 local programs and services that help deliver critical community programming across province.
“Across Ontario, non-profit organizations are delivering critical programming that is helping people train for new careers, stay active, learn new things and connect with their community,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why capital grant support is so important. This funding will help ensure facilities and spaces are accessible, modern and central to communities across our province.”
