Deseronto Bulldog fans can get a preview of this year’s club on Sept. 2 as they host the Frontenac Phantoms for the second annual Labour Day Classic at Napanee’s SPC.
This match, which features a 3:30 p.m. puck drop, will serve as a pre-season warm up as they get set for their fifth season of Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (EOSHL) play. General admission for the pre-season game is $5.
Prior to exhibition play the senior Jr. A hockey club will hold an open skate/inter-squad training camp, Aug. 24, from 5-7 p.m., also at the SPC. Interested players can search the Deseronto Bulldogs Hockey Club Facebook page for more info.
The games start to count Sept. 21 when they kick off their 20 game regular season with a home date at the Deseronto Community Rec Centre against the Tweed Oil Kings. Puck drop is 6:30 p.m.
That’ll be the start of 10 home dates throughout the season, all Saturday nights with 6:30 p.m. start times running from September to January. A full schedule is available on the team’s Facebook page.
Deseronto is looking to build off the success of last season which saw them go 15-5, finishing second the the West Division. This year they’re under the leadership of Brandon Tucker, who was promoted from assistant coach following the retirement of Steve Durnan.
