Deseronto Bulldogs to face-off against Smiths Falls in EOSHL quarter-finals

Deseronto’s road to a Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League title will begin with a best-of-five series against the Smiths Falls Rideaus.

Game 1 is set for Saturday at the Deseronto Community Rec Centre at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday the series shifts to Smiths Falls for a 4 p.m. start.

Game 3 returns to Deseronto on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. while Game 4 would be in Smiths Falls on March 3 at 6:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs learned of their first round opponent after the Rideaus defeated Frontenac in a one game wild card playoff.

Deseronto dominated the season series against the Rideaus, winning all three match-ups by scores of 7-6, 10-1 and 2-1 respectively, the last of which took place on Jan. 27.

Overall the teams were close in the standings, with the third place Rideaus finishing just four points back of the ‘Dogs. The season series was the difference, as Deseronto won 15 games, the Rideaus 12.

Deseronto has the edge on offense, scoring 123 goals compared to 98 for the Rideaus. On defense both teams allowed 80 goals against.
