Deseronto Bulldogs rout Millionaires, improve to 4-5 at EOSHL season’s halfway mark

A total of nine different Deseronto Bulldog skaters found the back of the net in their 13-4 shellacking of the visiting Maxville Millionaires in Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League action on Saturday night.

Deseronto built a 3-0 lead within the opening 5:34 of the game and never trailed the rest of the way. Maxville scored twice in the first to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Bulldogs ran away with five goals in both the second and third periods.

Brandon Gilmour led the way with three goals and two assists. Braedyn Asselstine and Joey Mayer each had a pair while Craig Cross, Kyle Wetering, Mitch Merry, Jordan Cannons, Cullen Hinds and Brett Maracle each had one. 

Graeme Gemmill picked up the win, stopping 31 shots on the night. 

With the win the Bulldogs moved to 4-5 on the season while the Millionaires are still winless at 0-9. 

Saturday’s game marked the midway point of the EOSHL’s inaugural season, as each team has now played nine games.

Desersonto will look to climb back to .500 this Saturday when they visit the Millionaires for a rematch. Deseronto’s next home game will be Dec. 14, when they welcome the West Carleton Riverman. Puck drop is 6:30 p.m. at the Deseronto Rec Centre. 

West Carleton leads the league at 8-0-1 (17 points), three points up on Cornwall at 6-1-2. The Bulldogs are third with eight points while Maxville is yet to record a point.
