The Deseronto Bulldogs called a trio of familiar names during the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League draft, which was held virtually on Sunday.

With their first pick, eighth overall, the Bulldogs picked Evan Foley, followed by Griffen Conger (27th overall) and Brady Sarazin (44th overall).

All three played locally at the Junior C level at one point of their career, for either the Napanee Raiders or Amherstview Jets, among other clubs.

Foley, a native of Belleville, was a member of the 2019 Schmalz Cup champion Raiders and also suited up for the Port Hope Panthers and the Junior A Wellington Dukes before graduating to the senior league.

The 22-year-old forward had 34 goals and 53 assists in his final junior year in 2019-20. In the playoffs that year he added three goals and three assists in six games before all hockey operations were suspended due to the pandemic.

Griffen is a hometown pick for Deseronto. He played for the both the Raiders and the Pirates in his junior career. The 21-year-old last played for the Pirates in 2019-20, when he picked up 23 goals and 32 assists.

Sarazin, who hails from Aurora, was the lone goaltender drafted by the Bulldogs. He went 14-13-1 with the Jets in 2019-20 with a .914 goals against average with four shutouts.

Other locals selected in the draft were Flinton’s Cole Bolton-selected by Tweed 10th overall, Tamworth’s Colin Gaffney-drafted by Frontenac 35th overall and Enterprise’s Brady Olsen-by Frontenac 42nd overall.

The draft now complete, the league will get to work on finalizing the schedule for the upcoming season, which they hope will get underway in September. A full list of draft results can be found on the EOSHL Facebook page.
