Derek Sloan charged for defying COVID-19 lockdown restrictions

Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Derek Sloan is scheduled to appeared in Elgin County provincial offences court in June to answer to charges for defying COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

The former-Conservative turned independent MP was among the over 100 people to gather at a church in Aylmer, On. on the weekend for a service that was live streamed on the church’s Facebook page. According to CBC, if found guilty Sloan could be ordered to pay up to $100,000 or spend up to a year in jail.
