Third period magic was the name of the game once again for the Napanee Raiders as they rallied to beat the home team Picton Pirates 2-1 on Thursday night.

Drawing several parallels to their previous meeting with Picton last Friday, the Raiders once again found themselves trailing heading into the third period. Picton’s Nick Kirby gave the home team the early lead, scoring 11:44 into the first.

Just as they did last week, Napanee out-chanced the Pirates all night long, only to be stymied by a red hot goalie, this time in Ethan Beattie, who was a perfect 36-for-36 in save chances through the opening two periods.

Napanee’s Nicholas Goosney finally broke through at the 7:32 mark of the third period to knot the game at 1-1. Just over seven minutes later Noah Westwater banged home the go-ahead goal, which would ultimately stand up as the game winner.

Bailey Maracle earned the win for Napanee, stopping 46 pucks on the night. Beattie took the loss, finishing with 50 saves.

The victory keeps Napanee’s win streak alive, now at a perfect 13-0. They’ll look to stay perfect tomorrow night when they welcome the Port Hope Panthers to the SPC. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
