Passed away, peacefully at home, surrounded with the love of his family on Friday, September 22, 2023. Gerard Louis Courneya of Napanee, originally from Tamworth at age 69. Loving husband of Helen Courneya (nee McDonald). Loving father of Charlotte Hass (Steve) of Ottawa and Naomi Courneya of Wellington. A proud Grampy of Rhodes Gerard Hass. Brother of Joanne Fowler (Larry), Catherine Kidd (late Ray Wuorinen), Joe Courneya (Cathy) and Ed Courneya (Lisa Harper). Predeceased by his parents Louis Courneya and Rosalyn (nee Breen). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Always a big warm smile when he greeted you, a lovely man will be remembered with love and warmth by all. We invite you to join us for a Service of Remembrance at the Hannah Funeral Home in Tamworth, on Friday, September 29, 2023 with gathering starting at 10 a.m., followed by Liturgy of the Word Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment with his parents after, at Assumption Cemetery in Erinsville. Informal Reception follows at the Hannah Funeral Home – there will be old time fiddle music. Memorial donations to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHFK) for Kingston Cancer Centre would be appreciated by us.
