Avid cyclists looking to discover Lennox & Addington County by bike need look no further than the fourth annual ‘2019 Discover L&A Ride’ cycling event being held on Sept. 21st.
For $30 per person participants will have access to several strategically placed rest stops, entrance into two historic sites, as well as wine and craft cider tasting from local producers found along the route.
Participants will put the peddles to the pavement beginning at MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company in Bath at 10 a.m. While there riders can enjoy folk music from musician Chris Morris before their trek.
The 12 looping routes consisting of 600 kilometres takes riders along paved roads which overlook the water’s edge.
With thousands of riders having experienced the Lennox & Addington County Trails since debuting in 2006, many of the routes offer extended paved shoulders, which is a key benefit for road cyclists.
The 58-kilometres of authentic rural Eastern Ontario landscape is something everyone should take in.
Rest stops which will be located along the trail, will all have refreshments available and will be using local ingredients wherever possible.
The stops include Pickerel Park, Old Hay Bay Church, Bergeron Estate Winery & Cider Company, Loyalist Trading Company and the Fairfield-Gutzeit House.
Cyclists can stop and take a break at the unofficial half-way point of the cycle at Bergeron Estate Winery & Cider Company. During that stop they can lay their bike down, take a load off and enjoy live music from The Stone City Band.
To finish the ride off, cyclists will return to MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company for either a glass of their crafted beer, cider from Hardway Cider Company or a non-alcoholic beverage of fruit smoothies from Rocky Mountain Smoothie Co. All three options will be provided to all registrants, if desired.
The soup Chef Food Truck will be at the brewery serving a variety of menu items from 1:30 – 5 p.m.
With more than 400 rider expected to participate the 2019 Discover L&A Ride is sure to be a fun filled day of biking that cyclists won’t want to miss.
Minor tune-ups and air checks will be available on site if bicycle repairs/air are needed.
The 2019 Discover L&A Ride is presented by Lennox & Addington County, L&A County Trails, RTO9 South Eastern Ontario and 88.7 myFM Napanee.
