Lennox and Addington County’s economic development office is hoping to pair tourism and related sector businesses for a summer fling during a tourism ‘speed dating’ event Tuesday.
Held at the Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives, at 7 p.m., the evening will provide business owners a chance to learn about their counterparts in the county and find out about the tourism initiatives currently underway. It’ll be a fast-paced event that allows an opportunity to chat one-on-one with fellow businesses in an effort to build partnerships and experiences with one another.
“It’s a great chance for L&A County tourism stakeholders to find out about some of their fellow business owners in the community,” said Rob Plumley, economic development officer with the County. “Area attractions, restaurants, lodging providers and retailers should find this format for the evening useful. Everyone will have a few minutes to chat one-on-one with one another which we hope will drive customer referrals and potentially create some future business partnerships.” Learning about what else is offered in the region could be mutually beneficial to all businesses in the tourism industry.
“The goal of the evening is to spur on conversations to increase cooperation between businesses that will positively impact county visitors,” said Plumley. “It could be as simple as a motel owner recommending a microbrewery to a overnight visitor looking for something to do in the area. Or, specific packages might also be created between a specific restaurant, retailer or area attraction. It’s really up to the business owners to find opportunities that will work for them.”
The event is free of charge and all business owners are welcome to attend. The “speed dating” event is part of the County’s recently launched Naturally L&A tourism brand, which allows visitors a chance to see activities, blogs and an in-depth calendar of events. It’s available at www.naturallyla.ca.
