Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives’ sixth annual Christmas Tree event will take place Dec. 17, with a full slate of activities both inside and out.

Running from 6-8 p.m., the free event offers plenty of holiday themed fun for the whole family.

“This year we’re expanding outside,” said Amber Meyer, program coordinator for the L&A County Museum. “We still will have Father Christmas, the (live) reindeer will be in the courtyard. We have a junior symphony coming from Kingston, they’ll be playing throughout the evening.”

Members of the public are encouraged to bring donations of warm clothes to be hung on the ‘giving tree’, which will be distributed to those in need this winter through Morningstar Mission.

Members of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada will also be on hand dressed as characters from the Nutcracker, which coincides with the community curated nutcracker display currently featured in the museum.

Also new this year will be a performance from Glisse on Ice.

“They have a snow globe where there is synthetic ice and there will actually be a figure skater performing inside the snow globe,” said Meyer. “Then they have some of their snow princesses and the snow queen doing a story and some things outside.”

Inside there will be 12 trees, all decorated by various community groups throughout the county. Guests will have a chance to examine each tree and cast a vote for their favourite one, with the winning group earning a prize pack from Ellena’s Cafe.

The museum is located at 97 Thomas Street E in Napanee.
