Council recognizes young local BMX stars

Napanee-based sister and brother BMX racers Addyson McQuaig and Eli McQuaid were honoured by Greater Napanee council on Tuesday in recognition of their many accomplishments in their sport. Addyson, aged eight, is a five-time Provincial Champ and representing Canada for her fourth year. She has finished in the National Top 5 a total of six times, as well as three top three finishes in the Gold Cup. She is the current district point leader for girls in Ontario and won the 2019 KBMX #1 Female Award and 2019 KBMX #1 Female Cruiser Award. Eli, aged five, is the five and under Intermediate Provincial Champion and second in the under seven boys provincial cruiser division. He earned a bronze medal at the Canada Cup and named to Team Canada for the 2020 World Championships in Houston, Tx.
He was the top five and under Intermediate rider in Ontario and currently 14th in the district out of 707 male riders. He was awarded the 2019 KBMX Rising Star Award and is the top ranked five year old for UCI Canada.
