COOPER, Gary Grant
It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Cooper announces his peaceful passing on September 25, 2023 at his home in Yarker, Ontario, at 82 years of age. Gary was predeceased by his loving wife Helen (Betty) Elizabeth Cooper (nee Silverthorn). He will be greatly missed by his sons Grant (Lucy) and grandson Sebastian, and Shawn (Stefanie), all from the Greater Toronto Area, and his beloved dog Crystal. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Barb Leonard and her children Bruce and Susan, and his brother Denny and his children Jennifer and Michael.
Born in Teston, Ontario, Gary eventually settled in Peterborough, Ontario where he met and married Betty and raised their family. Betty and Gary would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 22, 2023. For over 30 years, Gary drove highway buses for Greyhound, Voyageur Colonial and Coach Canada, where he met many coworkers whose friendships exist to present day. In his retirement years, Gary settled in Yarker, where many will remember his friendly nature, warm smile and love of banter. He will be greatly missed.
