Concerned citizens help Napanee OPP nab pair of suspected impaired drivers

A 26-year-old from Lansdowne was charged under the Cannabis Act last Wednesday after a Napanee OPP officer pulled him over following a traffic complaint made on Marysville Road in Tyendinaga Township.

Police noticed cannabis inside the vehicle within reach of the driver who also indicated he had just purchased the product on Tyendinaga Territory.

Twenty-seven grams of cannabis was seized and the driver was issued two tickets under the provincial Cannabis Act.  The first one for driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available with a set fine of $215. The second was for unlawfully purchasing cannabis with a set fine of $180.

-Shortly after midnight on Thursday, officers with the Napanee OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Centre Street in the Town of Greater Napanee

Police located the suspect vehicle at 12:24 a.m. travelling south on Centre Street. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving.

Charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 mgs is a 66-year-old man from Peterborough.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Dec.11th.
