The Communities in Bloom Committee for the Town of Greater Napanee will present a Garden Expo on April 1 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.

The Expo will bring together exhibitors and non-profit organizations. Committee Co-Chairs Shannon Baker and Kathy Medd bring this event back for the first time since a pandemic induced hiatus.

“It s a great way to kick off the season and get people excited again,” said Baker, who has been working with her committee to put together another fun and educational program.

This year’s Expo will feature a selection of free sessions presented by local experts on topics ranging from fruit tree pruning, the barn quilt project, plant nutrients and monarch butterfly way stations. A seed and magazine exchange table hosted by the Communities in Bloom Committee will also be included while the hall will be decorated with garden and nature themed art gallery presented by GNAAA. Guests will also have the opportunity to ask gardening questions to the Rideau 1000 Islands Master Gardeners.

New to gardening or an experienced green thumb and whether looking for information, plants, local food, garden décor or just want to chat about experiences – the Expo will have something for every gardener.

Admission is $2 and it includes entry into a variety of prize draws. The Expo will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Along with planning the Expo, Greater Napanee’s CIB has been busy mapping out what to plant in gardens throughout the town. This year’s colour scheme will feature shades of purple.
