For a second straight year Napanee’s Coldest Night of the Year has obliterated its fundraising goal, collecting over $75,000 as of Saturday night with totals still being counted.

That far surpassed its goal of $60,000 and is nearly $15,000 more than what the event brought in last year.

Over 100 walkers took to downtown Napanee earlier this evening, dawning bright yellow toques and braving a snow squall to walk a 2km or 5 km loop. money raised from the event will go to Morningstar Mission’s warming centre. Coldest Night of the Year walks are being held across Canada tonight, each one raising money to assist those who provide solutions to homelessness.
