Clarington Eagles shutdown Napanee Raiders in Game 1 of PJHL East Finals

The Clarington Eagles blanked the Napanee Raiders 4-0 in Game 1 of the PJHL East Finals.

The Clarington Eagles came out soaring on home ice in the opening game of the PJHL East Finals on Thursday night, blanking the Napanee Raiders 4-0 to take the early series lead.

Mitchell Davies scored just 1:18 into the game to put the Eagles in flight. Brady Darrach doubled the lead just 44 seconds later. Mitchell Doyle notched Clarington’s third goal of the opening period in the final three minutes to take a comfortable 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

Darrach continued to apply the pressure with a goal 5:33 into the second period to push the lead to 4-0.

Neither team could generate any offense in the third period as the Eagles held on for the shutout. Alex Lepizzera picked up the win while Bailey Maracle took the loss for Napanee.

The Raiders will look to turn their fortunes around tomorrow night when the series shifts to Napanee. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. at the SPC.
