Charity knitting group seeking yarn donations

Lennox and Addington Senior Outreach Services’ Knitting Group have been so busy throughout the pandemic, they’ve run low on yarn.

In order to keep producing hats, mittens, dolls, scarves and more for local charities, they’re reaching out to the public to ask for donations of wool or acrylic yarn.

“We’re just scrounging now for yarn,” said Annie McNutt of the SOS Knitting Group. “If the public could help us out (that would be great). We used to get a fair amount of donations but with the pandemic people didn’t realize they could just phone SOS or just come to my porch and drop it off.”

The group’s needles have been clicking and clacking throughout the lockdown. With the extra spare time, they’ve been able to help more organizations but now have run into a shortage of material.

With a little help from the community, they’ll be able to continue donating their creations to Family and Children Services, the Kiwanis Club, Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, Lennox and Addington County General Hospital and many other local charitable organizations.

To arrange a drop off, SOS can be reached at 613-354-6668 and then delivered to 12 Richmond Park Drive in Napanee. McNutt says people can also send her a message on Facebook and she will gladly do a porch pick up of any supplies.
