Charges laid after stolen property recovered in Tyendinaga Territory and Marlbank

A collection of some of the stolen property recovered by police at properties in Marlbank and Tyendinaga Territory.

On June 23, 2021 Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit, jointly with Tyendinaga Police Service, L&A County OPP, Frontenac OPP, Prince Edward County OPP, Tactics and Rescue unit (TRU), and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed search warrants at two residences and seized illegal drugs and a large quantity of stolen property.

As a result of an ongoing investigation into break and enters and drug trafficking in Frontenac, Lennox and Addington County and Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, police executed search warrants at a residence on Queen Street in Marlbank and Old Highway 2 in Tyendinaga Mohawk territory.

Officers seized suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine and a large quantity of stolen property including but not limited to an ATV, air compressors, jack hammer, catalytic converters, several generators, hundreds of tools, weed eaters, boat motors, chainsaws, fishing tackle and over $4500.00 in Canadian currency

Seven persons were arrested and two released unconditionally.

As a result of the investigation police have charged:

A 36-year-old of Tyendinaga First nation, an 18-year-old of Cornwall and a 30-year-old of Deseronto jointly with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I Substance

The three accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 19, 2021.

A 26-year-old of Tweed was charged with

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000,
  • Four counts of fail to comply with probation,
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

This accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice in Belleville on June 28, 2021.

Police further charged a 17 year old male youth of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with probation
  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance

The youth is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice youth court in Belleville on August 31, 2021
