Uncommon, unexpected and local — those are the qualities the Napanee and District Chamber of Commerce (NDCC) is looking for in vendors for its Discovery Marketplace which will be held Oct. 27 at the Strathcona Paper Centre.

An update of their Lifestyle Showcase they held last year, the event aims to highlight some of the businesses that may get overlooked by residents.

“It’s still touching on that promotion of local businesses but with a spin of a unique and comprehensive cross section of home- based entrepreneurs as well as the established brick-and-mortar businesses,” said Megan Smith, business manager with the NDCC. “We want to showcase both products and services.”

They’re looking for businesses that offer services such as sprucing up a home for the holidays, improve personal well-being or food and beverage.

“In addition to the complimentary swag bags and tons of prizes, we are going to have live entertainment in place of the live demos,” said Smith. “We’ll offer a food truck and samplings inside as well.”

Planning for the event is being handled by many of the same volunteers who put together the Take Over in May.

“It’ll be a great opportunity to start your holiday shopping,” said Smith. “To really get out there and meet some of the amazing businesses that we have around here that you may not have heard of.”

Early-bird prices for vendors looking to take part in the event are available until Sept. 21. Sponsorship opportunities are also available as well.
