Carjacking suspects arrested following high speed 401 chase through Napanee

At approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a stolen vehicle potentially travelling Eastbound on Hwy 401. The suspect vehicle was involved in a carjacking reported to Peel Regional Police a few hours earlier.

Quinte West OPP observed the vehicle travelling Eastbound on highway 401 as it was entering L&A County area from Quinte West area.  The suspect vehicle failed to stop and exited the 401 onto Shannonville Road later getting back on to the 401. One party exited the vehicle and was apprehended by Canine.  Three other occupants were arrested when the vehicle came to rest on 401 at Palace Road, following the use of a tire deflation device.

Quinte West OPP, L&A County OPP, Tyendinaga First Nations OPP, along with the Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine unit worked together to successfully stop the vehicle which resulted in four people being arrested.

Police have charged a 25-year-old, of Brampton, a 22-year-old of Brampton, a 20-year-old of Etobicoke, and a 19-year-old of Mississauga with possession of property obtained by crime.

The four accused were released on undertakings and turned over to Peel Regional Police for the continuation of the investigation.
