CARD, Joyce Evelyn (nee Buttery)
1925-2024
Joyce passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 in her 100th year at the Village Green Nursing Home, Selby. Predeceased by beloved husband Harold A.R Card, her parents Alfred and Francis Winnifred (Winnie) and stepmother Ethel, brother Brian and dear friend L.J. Little . Survived by sister-in-law Patricia of London England. Cherished mother of Cora Bellemare (Fred), Harold (Penny), Stephen (Marion), Michael, Tony (Michele) and Wendy (Kevin) Gurnsey. Proud grandmother of Francine, Jared, Brandon, Harold, Cory, Ashley, Stephenie, Monte, Antony, Keasha and Nerissa. She will be greatly missed by her 17 great grandchildren.
She loved reminiscing about her younger years in England as a telephone operator, cycling across the country side, coming to Canada after WWII and starting a new life with the many challenges and adventures involved. She enjoyed talking about politics and world affairs but her true passion was dancing and listening to music. In recent years, you could always find her sitting in her chair at the window admiring the weather, wildlife and people around her.
Family will receive friends at Wartman Funeral Home – Napanee on Monday, March 11th, 2024 from 4-7 pm. Service to be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11 am. With burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
