Canadian Tire Napanee owners Kevin and Rachel Thiessen presented an $8,000 cheque to Morningstar Mission executive director Kevin Alkenbrack on Thursday.

“Rachel and myself decided to donate to the Morningstar Mission because it’s an important cause and need to the community,” said Thiessen. “Certainly 2020 has been a challenging year for them.”

The money will go towards the Mission’s mandate of providing warm meals for those in need.

As a Napanee storeowner, Thiessen said it was important to give back to a local charity as a token of appreciation to the customers that have supported the store through an unprecedented year.

“I think just with the timing of what’s gone on this year, these are important things that have to be supported,” added Thiessen. “This is a direct correlation to what happens when people support local in the community. We’re individually owned, it’s just a good example of how we can give back to an important need in this community.”
