Because we are stupid

The column by Warren Kinsella, former special assistant to Liberal leader Jean Chretien, ‘Prime Minister always ready for his close-up’ (The Sun July 11, 2021), has to be the most damning and powerful indictment of a prime minister.

It portrays a man who has fooled so many people over the past few years by having his eye on himself only, with little regard for others. We learned that the eulogy delivered by Trudeau at his father’s funeral which propelled him into the public eye, was written by a friend not by Justin.

Among many examples, Kinsella wrote that Trudeau, with his bevy of Liberal photographers in tow, flew out west recently, on our plane, for pre-election photo-ops. In British Columbia he promised $10 per day daycare, knowing the same promise was made election after election, yet never fulfilled. In Saskatchewan he dramatically knelt on one knee in a cemetery at a residential school, laying a teddy bear on one of the graves while his photographer clicked photo after photo. Millions of dollars were promised in Alberta in carefully planned settings. The entire trip, on the taxpayers’ dime, was preparation for an election that has yet to be called.

There is little doubt Trudeau loves the power he wields keeping Canadians on the edge of their seats waiting for the election. Why do we fall for the antics of this guy? The simple answer is, because we are stupid!
