Bantam and Peewee Stars punch tickets to OMHA Finals

Both the Calderwood Automation Bantam BB Stars and Country Butcher Shop Peewee BB Stars have earned spots in the OMHA Finals after weekend victories.

The Bantams won Game 4 by a score of 3-1 in Huntsville, while the Peewees rolled over Midland 5-2 in Game 5 at the SPC. The Bantams will face Pelham while the Peewees will play Thorold.

In Huntsville, Spencer Cranley scored late in the first period from Gavin Brooks and Jack Osborne.  Jake Wood got the winner on a fine play from Cranley and Brooks. Cranley would also get some insurance, set up by Luc Amat and Brooks.  Goalie Sam Rickard got the win. The boys kept their cool, as Huntsville led them 16-8 in penalty minutes to help Napanee’s cause, as the Stars tallied two power play goals.

On Friday night, the Bantams never trailed as they won 5-2. Zered Haller tallied early in the first period from Aaron Storms and Jayden Holden. Seconds into the second frame, Amat would get the first of two assisted by Cranley and Ty Kemp. His second proved to be the winner, seven seconds into a power play in the third. Helpers went to Osborne, and Kemp.  Cranley made it 4-1 on a setup by Cameron Pearson, and Pearson got one of his own in the dying seconds.

-The Peewee squad was able to build a 5-0 lead in Saturday’s game, before Midland tallied in the third. Kohen Cutler scored from Ty Turpin in the first minute, and Owen Kish would tally shortly after on a rebound, with helpers from Sam McCaw and Cutler.  Mason Goodfellow, on a solid individual effort, picked up a loose puck at the red line, maneuvered into the slot, and found the back of the net. Dylan Kemp got the fourth of the period from Goodfellow and Scott Scrimshaw. Scrimshaw would add to the total 10 seconds into the middle frame with help from Goodfellow and Kemp.
