Avril Lavigne was in the centre spotlight for a few reasons during the 52nd Juno Awards, held Monday night in Edmonton.

The Napanee native was presented with the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award.

“Thanks to my amazing fans for voting for the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award,” Lavigne tweeted after the show. “This is my 10th Juno Award and 4th Fan Choice Award. Let’s keep rocking and cheers to the next 20 years!”

Her latest album, Love Sux, was up for Album of the Year but lost out to The Weeknd.

Lavigne was also involved in a headline stealing moment when a topless woman took the stage as Lavigne was introducing a musical performance by AP Dhillon. The woman appeared to be protesting in response to the Ontario government’s development plan of the province’s green belt. Lavigne ignored the woman for the most part before using an expletive to tell her to get off the stage as she was ushered away by security.
