One of Napanee’s brightest stars will have her named etched into Hollywood lore this year.

Avril Lavigne has been announced as one of eight musical acts to be added to the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2021. She’ll be joined by the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, George E. Clinton Jr. and DJ Khaled who will also be added this year.

“I’ve wanted this my whole life,” Lavigne tweeted from her official account, linking an article to the Walk of Fame announcement.

Lavinge, whose hits include Complicated and I’m With You, made headlines earlier this week when she joined the Tik Tok social media platform. She made a big splash while doing so, teaming with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk for her Tik Tok debut. Naturally the video was set to her smash hit, Sk8er Boi.

“We all look up to you,” she tweeted to Hawk. “I used to skateboard a lot when I was a teenager and I’ve just recently picked the board back up. This was the highlight of my summer.”
In the first three days the video was viewed 22.9 million times and Lavigne gained 1.6 million followers.

Earlier this year Lavigne told her followers that she had finished recording for her next studio album, which is expected to be released later this year.
