Avril Lavigne released a re-recorded version of one of her songs Friday, with net proceeds going towards an organization dedicated to keeping doctors and medical staff safe.

The native of Napanee announced on her official Twitter account Tuesday she’d be re-recording her song Warrior and re-naming it We Are Warriors and releasing it today.

“Ever since our world was tuned upside down a few weeks ago I’ve seen everyday people put on armor (sic) and go into battle,” Lavigne wrote on her Twitter account. “Simple tasks like delivering mail has become a heroic effort. Overnight everyone was asked to battle. Overnight everyone became Warriors. To all the hospital workers, postal service people, grocery store workers, police and firemen, every single one of you who has had their world shaken. This is for you.”

Her song is available on a variety of digital platforms at https://avrillavigne.lnk.to/WeAreWarriorsTW. Lavigne added net proceeds would go to Project Hope, which provides personal protective equipment for frontline workers in close proximity to COVID-19 patients.
