Atom BB Stars grab early 2-0 series lead over Muskies

Three Napanee Stars teams played a quarterfinal home-and-home playoff games with Lindsay last weekend.

The Joyce’s Meat and Deli Atom BBs were 6-3 winners in Lindsay, and shutout their guests 7-0 on Sunday. They dominated play on Sunday, outshooting their opponents 31-12. Matthew Airhart got the winner five minutes in with a shot high blocker side. He added another later in the game. Wyatt Albright notched a pair as well, while Kohen Cutler, Sophie Fraser and Ben Kerr rounded out the scoring. Goalie Jack Godfrey earned the shutout.

-The Peewee BBs began their quarterfinal playoffs with a 5-2 victory in Lindsay, but were downed 3-1 on Sunday. In the latter contest, Lindsay scored before the crowd settled into their seats, and added another before period one ended. The teams traded goals in the second. Nick Campeau scored from Cooper Harris and Nick Lamarche. The third frame was scoreless, and the shot totals were 18-14 in favour of Lindsay.  Noah Brown started in goal and Aiden Difazio finished between the posts. Game 4 is Sunday at 4 p.m.

-The Exit Realty Acceleration Bantam BB Stars did not fare as well, losing 3-1 to Prince Edward County in Game 1, played in Wellington. The boys will be back home Saturday for a 5 p.m. puck drop.

-Continuing their six-team round robin series, the Novice BBs were edged 3-2  in Lindsay, and 2-1 at the SPC. On Sunday, they led early on, when Hudson Conger scored from Keagan York, and took the play to the visitors. They gave up goals in the second and third frame to take the loss.  Their next home game is Sunday at noon, facing Newcastle.
