Three Napanee Stars teams squared off in the Milk Tournament held in Prince Edward County- the Joyce’s Meat&Deli Atom BB Stars, the Exit Realty Acceleration Bantam BBs, and the Napanee Midget BBs.
– The atoms won gold by defeating South Stormont 6-1 in the final of their division. In the round robin, they were perfect, beating the Muscrat Voyageurs 6-1, Gananoque 7-1 and then shut out Renfrew 5-0 on Saturday. Sunday morning, they controlled Gananoque for a second time 6-1 to reach the finals with South Stormont.
– The bantams also won the top position in their 10 team division, squeaking past the host Prince Edward County team 1-0. Earlier, they chalked up wins over Gananoque 4-2 and Mount Brydges 3-0, but were edged 1-0 by Tillsonburg. Sunday morning, they faced Tillsonburg again, but this time they prevailed 3-2 over their western Ontario rivals to earn a spot in the finals.
– The Napanee midgets were in a tight division with no team taking control. Friday, they were edged 3-2 by South Muskoka, lost 5-3 to Thorold, and suffered a 2-1 loss to Ingersoll. Saturday night, they got a narrow 2-1 victory over the host club, Prince Edward County.
– In league play, the L&A Mutual Insurance Atom AEs lost in Norwood 5-2, while the Peewee AEs played a home and home with Douro last weekend. Saturday the Peewee AE squad won 6-1 at the Strathcona Paper Centre, but on Sunday they were outscored 9-7 in Douro.
