Area Catholic schools expected to be closed to students Jan. 21

From the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board website:

On Monday OECTA announced that they would be taking part in a one-day full withdrawal of services on Jan. 21, 2020 if an agreement is not reached prior to this date. Due to this full withdrawal of services, all ALCDSB schools will be closed to students on Jan .21. This affects all ALCDSB elementary and secondary students.

As you are aware, on Jan. 13 OECTA also initiated a partial withdrawal of services in our Catholic schools, which includes Catholic teachers refraining from activities such as preparing report card comments, participating in EQAO related activities and attending or participating in Ministry of Education initiatives. The declaration of and continuation of this job action is a result of central (provincial level) negotiations and decisions that will be made at that level. At ALCDSB, we do not control the decisions regarding job action. We are uncertain of the possibility and duration of this job action. ALCDSB will continue to monitor this job action closely and provide parents/guardians with updates through the board website, www.alcdsb.on.ca and through school websites and social media.
