Members of the Lennox and Addington OPP have charged a driver with impaired driving.
On Nov. 15, 2022, just after 1 a.m., officers were conducting general patrol in the area of Deseronto when they observed a motor vehicle travelling southbound on Deseronto Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act.
As a result of an investigation, the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer.
A 33- year-old of Amherstview was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Dec. 6, 2022. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
