Amherst Islander II ferry arrives in Quebec City

The Amhest Islander II, a fully electric ferry, arrived in Canada on Sunday.

Amhest Island’s new fully electric ferry arrived at the Port of Quebec City on Sunday

Constructed in Turkey, the Amhest Islander II, along with the Wolfe Islander IV will next make the voyage to Kingston where they will begin the final steps to become ready for service in the spring of 2022. They’re expected to arrive in Kingston in mid-October.

The Amherst Islander II will have a capacity of 294 passengers and 55 vehicles. Upgrades are currently underway at the terminals between Millhaven and Stella. Ontario’s Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney announced their arrival on Sunday.
