Alzheimer’s Walk set for Saturday in Napanee

Beaver Staff

Walkers of all ages are invited to take part in the second annual fundraising Alzheimer Society of Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington’s IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, this Saturday at 9 a.m. in Napanee’s Conservation Park.

Participants are encouraged to gather pledges from friends and family. Funds raised from the event will help meet the growing demand for the Alzheimer Society’s services that are a lifeline for many residents living with the devastating condition. Money from the walk will be invested in a broad range of programs and services available through the Society, which are offered at little to no cost. The programs enhance the health and well-being of people with dementia as well as their families, while also providing education and guidance to help reduce the risk of dementia and how to maintain brain health.

Registration for Saturday’s walk runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the walk getting started at 10 a.m.

Those unable to attend this weekend’s walk in Napanee can also take part in the May 26 walk in Kingston, to be held at Lake Ontario Park. It too will run 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Last year more than 350 residents of KFLA took part in the walk, raising close to $50,000.
