Additional charges laid against Loyalist man accused of discharging a fire arm in Millhaven road rage incident

The Lennox & Addington OPP has now laid additional charges in connection with an incident involving a firearm in Bath.

On Nov. 26, shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to a family dispute on Bath Road in Loyalist Township. A victim had been assaulted, with the assailant then fleeing in a vehicle. Officers later received a call about a road rage incident and altercation on Taylor-Kidd Boulevard. During this incident a firearm was discharged. There were no serious injuries as a result of this incident.

L&A County OPP members, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit conducted an intensive search of the area.  The OPP utilized the Alert Ready emergency system to broadcast a message to all cell phones in the area, as well as through radio and television broadcasts. A suspect was arrested without incident.

In addition to charges laid earlier 27-year-old of Loyalist Township has now been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Two counts of assault
  • Mischief for interfering with lawful use of property
  • Take motor vehicle without consent
  • Theft under $5000
  • Use firearm while committing an offence
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited weapon obtained by crime

The accused is still in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee today.
