Canada’s men’s basketball team is two wins away winning the FIBA Olympic Qualifier in Victoria B.C.

A win in this afternoon’s semifinals against the Czech Republic will advance them to Sunday’s final. Win both and they are headed for Tokyo.

Canada opened the tournament with a hard fought 97-91 win over Greece. They followed that up Wednesday with a 109-79 win over China. After sitting out the first game, Odessa’s Aaron Doornekamp saw action in Wednesday’s game, picking up a steal and a defensive rebound.

Today’s game will be broadcast at 3:30 p.m. eastern on CBC. The Canadian roster is made up of eight players currently on an NBA roster.

This team is looking to become Canada’s first men’s basketball squad to qualify for the Olympics since 2000.
