Local Firefighters Set Record At FireFit Worlds

Local firefighters Ashley Scaletta (Stone Mills), Kevin Duncan (Greater Napanee) and Lianne McAuley (Stone Mills) were recently recognized for their performance at last year’s World’s Firefighter Combat Challenge. FireFit is an international competition that challenges firefighters to race against the clock while performing six essential tasks of the job. Scaletta set a personal best by taking 50 seconds off her individual run and is currently ranked ninth for the women’s individual category for the year. Teaming with McAuley, she placed second in the women’s relay. In order to qualify for the Worlds she placed first at an event in Massachusetts. Duncan placed fifth overall in the over 55 division, second in tandem, third in over 45 tandem and third in the over 55 relay. He partnered with McAuley to set a world record in the over 55 co-ed division. McAuley also earned her way into the prestigious Lion’s Den with a sub five-minute course time.
