Home was sweet for a pair of Express teams this weekend as they each went undefeated Saturday in tournaments held simultaneously at the Fairgrounds.

Softball Napanee’s Express U12 boys and U14 boys each had perfect days.

Playing in the U12 East Qualifier, the Express team coached by Dave Kerr defeated Kenmore 20-1, Havelock 16-0 and then capped the tournament with a 19-6 re-match win over Havelock in the finals.

Darren Snider, Austin Reynolds and Aiden Lollar each turned in strong outings from the pitcher’s circle. At the plate the team had contributions up and down the lineup. Brock Boutilier and Brock Alaver combined to connect on four home runs throughout the tournament.

Napanee’s second entry in the U12 tournament, coached by Bryan Brooks, went 1-2 on the day. After a close 15-9 loss against Havelock to open the tournament, the Express rallied back with a 13-0 win over Kenmore. A loss to Havelock in the semifinals prevented an all-Napanee final.

The U12 Express teams will be headed to the Ontario Provincials Aug. 14-15 in Drumbo.

Napanee’s U14 boys also hosted a tournament this weekend to help get game ready for their upcoming eliminations on Aug. 7.

The Express didn’t allow a run all day while picking up 14-0, 9-0 and 20-0 victories. Pitchers Dylan Kemp, Kayden Thompson and Logan Willis combined to shutdown their opponents.
