Music will flow from Napanee’s Loaf N Ale all day on Dec. 5 as the restaurant hosts an all day concert and toy drive.

This will be The Loaf N Ale’s second annual toy drive and music marathon with the toys staying in the local area and going to The Napanee Salvation Army.

“Why did we decide to do this? I don’t know, a big heart,” chuckled Derek Valentyne, owner of The Loaf N Ale. “This is our second annual event. So last year we really felt we could make it a big hit by bringing in music and also collecting toys for the local area, it was really important to me that the toys didn’t go outside of the region and I was assured it would be all within this area. So honestly it just came to our minds and said I would like to do that.”

The Salvation Army will have volunteers set up outside of The Loaf N Ale to collect the unwrapped toys and or gift cards.

As for the concert, everyone is required to make reservations, especially if wanting to watch a certain artist. The concert starts at 12 p.m. All artists playing will be solo artists as the health board decided it best to keep all acts solo.

Starting the concert off will be Napanee local Erick Turnbull from 12-12:45 followed by Dave McGrath, Keith Flood, Chantel Johnston, John Sweet, Eric Widzinski, Andrew Mack and a few more not named yet.

“The Salvation Army is bringing in their own volunteers for outside,” stated Valentyne. “We will be collecting the brand new unwrapped toys outside so people aren’t coming in strong to the front of the pub, and they will be given a 10 per cent off food coupon for that day for dropping off a brand new toy. I had a couple bands that were going to play at a fairly easy level but the health board decided best to keep it solo.”

If coming in to dine, certain protocols are in place so everyone can safely enjoy the concert in their own socially distanced table. People have to be seated at all times, if they stand up to go to the bathroom or outside they must wear a mask, there is no one allowed to stand up within the pub to be entertained by music they must be seated at all times unless going to the bathroom or exiting and then they must wear a mask. Every person at each table must give The Loaf N Ale their contact information.
