4-H celebrates its best at annual awards ceremony

Kaitlin Kimmett (left) earned the Top Agricultural Member Award while Lindsay Davis was awarded the Top Life Style Member Award.

4-H members, volunteers, friends and family gathered together on Sunday to celebrate the achievements of the club’s young members. These members worked hard during the past year to accomplish many successes. Members have learned to work with animals such as dairy and beef calves, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs and sheep. They have improved skills in woodworking, crocheting, bird watching and international cooking. They completed clubs where they learned to appreciate and survive the great outdoors, turn trash into treasures and act and do improve in the drama club. These young people learn to do by doing as they try new and exciting challenges and 4-H opportunities. They have used their heads, hearts, hands and health to try new experiences and improve their self-confidence and knowledge. Some have attended 4-H camps, fairs, animal shows and the Royal Winter Fair.

While all the members are celebrated in their successes, some have stood out as having accomplished top honour awards. Kaitlin Kimmett was awarded the Top Agricultural Member Award sponsored by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association and Lindsay Davis was awarded the Top Life-Style Member Award sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion-Napanee Branch. Both of these girls are excellent examples of 4-H members who have worked hard to achieve these honours.
