Seven different Raiders combined for eight goals as Napanee steamrolled the Campbellford Rebels 8-0 at the Seymour Community Centre on Saturday.
Alex Zamuner was perfect with 16 saves, which fittingly led the Raiders to their 16th straight victory.
Christos Chronis had two goals on the night for Napanee while Blake Aylesworth, Ben Carter, Ben White, Noah Jacobsen, Michael Patrick and Maverick Labrie all scored once.
Napanee built a 4-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes then tacked on two more over the final frames, outshooting their opponents 48-16 on the night. Along the way they converted on half of their six power-plays while successfully killing off all five of the Rebel man-advantages.
Friday night at the SPC the Raiders had a bit more of a challenge, holding off the visiting Amherstview Jets for a 5-3 victory.
Eric Russell put the Jets in flight first, scoring just shy of the five minute mark of the opening period. Napanee responded with a flurry of three goals in less than five minutes as Cameron Krupa, Aylesworth and Carter each hit the twine.
Amherstview came out soaring in the second as Nolan Stevenson scored just 12 seconds after the draw to cut the deficit to 3-2. That’s where the score would hold until 5:39 into the third period when Caden Kekewich tied the game at 3-3.
Facing a rare bit of adversity, the Raiders dug down deep to keep their perfect season alive. Krupa scored the go ahead goal with under five minutes to play while Aylesworth tacked on an insurance tally on the final play of the game to seal the win.
Bailey Maracle earned the victory with 35 saves. Samuel Closs got the start for the Jets but was chased after allowing three goals in 10:14 of ice time. Tommy Rollins took over from there and gave his team a chance to rally before ultimately faltering in the final five minutes.
Napanee’s perfect weekend stretches their lead over the second place Jets to nine points (32-23). The Jets are now 11-6-1 on the season.
Napanee will host the Picton Pirates at the SPC on Friday night for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. On Sunday they travel to Amherstview for a rematch with the Jets, which will feature a 1:30 p.m. start time.
