The Napanee United Restaurant Atom B Crunch played the Keene Wolverines in Keene, on Saturday. Despite outplaying the hosts, the Crunch were deadlocked in a scoreless tie through the opening two periods. Sam de Almeida broke the tie 45 seconds into the third with assists by Kailee Jacklin and Lexa Lazarakos. This opened the floodgates as the Crunch exploded for four more goals. Lazarakos added two goals to her total for the game, Madaleine Nugent had a goal and an assist, Kailee Jacklin scored a goal and Lucy Cork, Suri Kelloway and Logan Smith all had assists. Yakowennare Brant and Mikenna Ford split the game for the combined shutout.
-The Peewee BB Crunch held onto first place after a weekend split. They lost on Saturday, 2-1 to the Peterborough Ice Kats.
The Ice Kat forecheck was relentless and Napanee just couldn’t muster many shots on goal. Peterborough scored with just over a minute left in the third to take the lead. Kristen Sutton scored the lone goal. Keyra Herrington took the loss in net after a barrage of shots over the whole game.
On Sunday, they played the Whitby Wolves in Whitby. The Crunch won 1-0 on a goal by Hailey Lay from Alaina Holmes. Diana Wharton stopped a 2-on-0 in the first period that was key to earning the shutout and the win. Chloe Davey made a game saving shot block late in the third period as Wharton stopped the initial shot but the rebound went to a charging Wolves forward, Davey read the play and got in the shooting lane to make the block and preserve the win.
-Napanee Peewee B Crunch lost 2-0 against the Peterborough Ice Kats on Saturday but rebounded with a 4-0 victory against the North Durham Blades on Sunday.
–The Bantam B Crunch had a successful weekend, winning three games. On Saturday they played the Ennismore Eagles for a doubleheader and won Game 1 by a score of 7-0. Savannah Mumby earned the shutout. Goals came from by Claire Whitney (a hat trick), Abby Kish, Hannah Valleau and Bethany Foster (two). Assists were provided by Abby Kish (three), Natalie Mills (two), Anna Hagerman, Ainsley Hickerson, Claire Whitney and Morgan Boldrick.
They followed that game with a 2-1 win to sweep the doubleheader. Claire Whitney scored both Napanee goals and assists went to Morgan Boldrick (two), Abby Kish and Bethany Foster.
On Sunday, the Crunch were home to the Durham West Lightning. Napanee closed out their busy weekend with a 3-2 win. Abby Kish scored the natural hat trick with assists by Natalie Mills (two), Claire Whitney and Brooke Hickerson.
