A submission has been made to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to change the name of a section of the Napanee River.
A portion of the body of water north-north east of the Colebrook Dam has been proposed to be renamed Colebrook Lake.
Members of the public are invited to offer their input on the matter online at https://www.ontario.ca/form/survey-geographic-name-questionnaire?proposed_name=Colebrook_Lake.
According to the website, that portion of the water has been referred to as Colebrook Lake by locals since the dam was built 100 years ago.
Input on the matter will be accepted until April 1, at which point the results of the survey will be used to make a recommendation to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. An official name change would appear on government maps and publications.
