A vacant home in Deseronto was completely destroyed by fire Tuesday night.
There were no reported injuries in the blaze.
Very little remains of the Fourth Street house and an investigation into a possible cause is underway.
“(The fire was in a) house that was under minor renovations and no one was living in the home at the time,” said Deseronto fire chief Darrell Brinklow. “The cause of fire is unknown but it was a total loss.”
With support from the Mohawk Fire Department, about 30 volunteers were called to suppress the fire that at one point was considered a risk to nearby structures.
“With rapid intervention by the fire department they were able to protect the house that was adjacent to the burning structure,” said Brinklow. “(A nearby house) did receive some cosmetic damage but no serious damage.”
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
The Deseronto Fire Department expressed gratitude to all the residents who showed up with food and drinks for the volunteers as they battled the fire.
