Selby’s Lennox Community Theatre will deviate from its regular program format for its next production, showcasing the many talents of the area in The Community Variety Show, Feb. 7, 8 and 9.
Instead of a traditional play, The Community Variety Show is instead a collection of talents of all ages from across the region. It’s not a competition, instead just an opportunity for people to share their artistic gifts.
“We have singers, we have dancers, we have people who can sing and play instruments, we have a belly dancer, a contemporary dancer and a comedian,” explains director Nicole Butler. “A bit of everything.”
Not since 2016 has Lennox Community Theatre hosted a variety show.
“There’s not a lot of places for people to showcase their talents,” said Butler. “This is the reason we wanted people to come to the variety show, so they could showcase their talents. There isn’t a venue for it. We want people to know the theatre is here and this is really a great way to promote the theatre as well as promoting a lot of young people.”
Tickets for the show are $18 per person or $12 for children 12-years-old or under. Seniors pay $15 for Sunday’s matinee. Tickets are available online at www.LennoxTheatre.ca or available at the door the day of the show, cash only.
The Feb. 7 and 8 shows begin are 7:30 p.m. The Feb. 9 show begins at 2 p.m.
Because of schedules of the performers, each show will be a bit different as not every act can attend all three shows.
The Community Variety Show is the third show of the Selby theatre’s 2019-20 playbill. In March they will show The Dixie Swim Club before closing out the year with Married Alive! In late May.
