Napanee Spud’s Restaurant Bantam Express’ opponents have found it tough to muster hits, much less runs when facing the top Ontario ranked team at the U16 Fast Pitch Canadians in Saskatoon, Sask.

Napanee pitchers are yet to allow a run through their first three games, their latest victory a 12-0 mercy win over the New Brunswick’s Fredericton Twins earlier this afternoon.

Connor Brooks got Napanee on the board with an RBI single in the first to help spark a four run inning. Jacob Boutilier tripled home two more before Aiden Reddick ripped a line drive passed third to score Boutilier.

Tyler Branchard, Brooks, Caley Whiteye and Boutilier each finished the game with two RBI while Bryson Gilpin, Easton Thompson and Reddick each had one.

Whiteye got the start, allowing just one hit over three innings while striking out five. Lachlan Stover closed out the fourth, striking out the side.

Brooks set the tone for Napanee in their tournament opening game on Wednesday, tossing a complete game no-hitter in a 4-0 win over Team BC. He struck out 19 of the 21 batters he faced. Whiteye had two RBI while Branchard and Nicholas McGrayne each drove in a run.

Napanee followed that win with an 8-0 victory over the Shellbrook Rangers.

The Express’ fourth game of the tournament is set for 5 p.m. today when they take on Quebec.

On Friday they’ll wrap up round robin play by facing the East Hants Mastodons at 3 p.m. and then the Shallow Lake Sting at 8 p.m.
The playoff round goes Saturday and Sunday.
