Friends of the Salmon River to host groundwater activities

Beaver Staff

On Saturday, June 2, the Friends of the Salmon River are inviting the public to peer down the inside of a well to learn about groundwater. The half-day of water activity will be held at the Kennedy Field Station north of Tamworth, which Queen’s University is using as a groundwater study site.

Groups led by Queen’s researchers can look through a video camera to see the fractures that govern groundwater flow, observe rock cores from wells, sample groundwater with a hand pump and mechanical pump, and test using pulse interference.

The event runs from 12:30-4 p.m. Registration is required, contact Susan at by e-mail at or by phone at 613-379-5958. More information is available at the website
